How the schema engine works

From auto-detection to validation, every step is handled inside ProRank.

Auto-Detection

ProRank automatically generates the right schema type based on your content. Blog posts get Article schema. Products get Product schema. WooCommerce stores get rich e-commerce markup without configuration.

  • Post type mapping: Posts use Article, Pages use WebPage, Products use Product
  • Taxonomy detection: Category pages get CollectionPage, author pages get ProfilePage
  • WooCommerce: Product schema with price, availability, brand, GTIN/EAN/ISBN, reviews
  • Breadcrumbs: BreadcrumbList schema generated from your WordPress page hierarchy

Visual Schema Builder

Build custom schema for any page using a visual interface. Select a schema type, fill in the fields, and ProRank generates valid JSON-LD. No code required.

  • Type selector with field guides for each schema type
  • Template variables: %title%, %excerpt%, %date%, %author% auto-fill from content
  • Nested schema support: Product with Offer, Organization with ContactPoint
  • Live JSON-LD preview shows exact output before saving

Schema Validation

Built-in validator checks your schema against Google's structured data requirements before it goes live. Catches missing required fields, invalid types, and deprecated properties.

  • Pre-publish validation in the editor meta box
  • Tests against Google Rich Results requirements (not just schema.org spec)
  • Warns about deprecated properties and missing recommended fields
  • One-click link to Google Rich Results Test for live page validation

JSON-LD Output

All schema is output as JSON-LD in the <head>, which is Google's recommended format. No Microdata clutter in your HTML, no RDFa complexity.

  • Clean JSON-LD blocks with @context and @type
  • Entity consolidation: one Organization block referenced by all pages via @id
  • Breadcrumb schema follows Google's "no URL on last item" recommendation
  • Compatible with any theme and page builder

Global Schema Controls

Set site-wide defaults for Organization, WebSite, and Person schema from one settings page. Override per-post when needed.

  • Site representation: Organization or Person with logo, name, social profiles
  • Default schema type per post type (Article, WebPage, etc.)
  • Per-post override in the editor meta box
  • Disable schema output on specific pages or post types

AI Schema Enhancement

AI analyses your content to suggest missing schema properties and generate descriptions, improving your chances of rich result display.

  • Suggests FAQ schema from question-like headings in your content
  • Generates schema descriptions from post content when missing
  • Detects HowTo patterns and suggests step-by-step markup
  • Works with your configured AI provider (BYOK)
